The electronic exam is done online and provides immediate pass or fail with your printable certificate. The paper exam is done on paper with pencil and has to be mailed off to verify proctors’ grade, taking several days. Each examinee needs their own laptop for test taking.


Class Duration Required by ServSafe

Food Handler Course 

- The minimal class duration has to be 2hrs up to 3hrs. Can be more but not less than. The exam itself has 40 questions and can take up to 90 mins depending on the pace of the individual. Unlike the Manager Certification, this test does not require a Proctor, only an Instructor for the class.

Manager Course 

- The minimal class duration has to be 8hrs and up to 10hrs. Can be more but not less than. The exam itself has 90 questions and gives a 2hr window (unless completed in less time.) You must score 75% or higher to pass.
